Captains' Drive In
Last week we bid farewell to Peter Goodsell & Sue Siddle as Captain & Lady Captain which means their successors were now ready to take control of the helm. On Saturday Terry Heaver & Sheila Grant both drove in for 2016 which also happens to be the 125th Anniversary of R&CPGC. As we all know Terry isn't one to upset the apple cart or rattle any cages so Sheila & Terry's entrance was very low key using just the two customised buggies in the form of a train. Once Terry's hecklers had settled down it was time for the Captain's elect to take their first shots.
Sheila was first up and the crowd stayed quiet while she put her efforts into sending the ball down the first of many fairways to come this year hitting the ball a respectable 75 yards next up was the shrinking violet Terry Heaver...
As Terry was getting in the zone to bomb a drive down the first the surrounding scenes was similar to that of a Sunday singles session at the Ryder Cup, the crowd were trying their best to disturb the mantra Terry had created but an expert such as Terry didn't bat an eyelid and knocked his ball an easy 144 yards. When the formalities were over the crowd that had amassed by the 1st tee headed back into the clubhouse for an exquisite dinner prepared by Jackie & Bernie.
If you want to purchase any photos Dan Pullen took at the ceremony, then you can do so behind the bar in the Clubhouse.
Blue Tee Championships
Following on from the success of last year's introduction of the blue tees we have put together the Blue Tee Championships consisting of 3 tournaments which are as follows:
Pairs Yellow Ball Stableford: members pair up and play a combined stableford score game but whoever has the yellow ball double points will be scored. The first of the 3 will take place on Friday 27th November for a 2pm shotgun start.
3 Club Challenge: this is an individual stableford game where you have to choose just 3 cannons to take into battle. The toughest part is not the lack of clubs but deciding what 3 clubs to use! Come and be a part of the fun on Saturday 19th December at 11:30am.
Texas Staff Challenge: member's team up into 4's and try to beat the gross Texas Scramble score posted by a staff team with the winning team being lavished with fantastic prizes, would you expect anything less? If you think you've got a team who can take down the mighty staff team then come along on Christmas Eve at 11:00am.
These are guaranteed to be 3 fun events and a lot of laughs will be had accompanied by a little bit of golf. If you want to be part of the festive fun then sign up in the ProShop from 8th November but be quick as spaces can fill up fast!
Rob; I need a members HELP.
Now I am entering into my final year of the PGA course I need as part of my coaching module to critique a golfers swing by video analysis. The assignment I have to write requires me to film a golfer's swing from 2 separate angles then document all the necessary changes in order to improve the player's technique.
I'm looking for a volunteer to help me with this task, I need a member with a handicap between 10 and 25 to hit a few shots which I can video. In return for your time I'll give a free 20 minute lesson. For all those interested please contact me in the ProShop or email warren_wood@hotmail.co.uk.
