Last Friday we had another very successful PING demo day here at Rochester & Cobham. This was my 4th PING demo day in the last two years and once again I had an unbelievable amount of support. In fact this was my busiest yet, with 19 fittings across the day! So thank you to all that attended, I hope you really enjoyed the experience and your new clubs.

FlightScope
“I am pleased to say hiring FlightScope over the last two weeks was a huge success. It is something I have wanted to introduce here for a number of months now and I am so glad to finally have had the opportunity to share it with you all. Due to the overwhelming success and demand I have acquired FlightScope again for a two week period starting on 28th April – 11th May.
6 appointments have already been reserved which is great to see! Buggies and trollies back in action
In case you missed this last week, we now have all buggies and trollies back in play. We have a fleet of 7 buggy’s and 3 Motocaddy electric trollies available for hire in the pro shop. Buggy’s are £25 for visitors and £10 for members, and our Motocaddy rentals are £8 for visitors and £6 for members. Please be aware that these book up very quickly during the summer months so make sure you book early to avoid disappointment.
New Range Balls
At last weeks PING Demo Day we introduced our NEW Two piece yellow range balls (pictured below).
The reaction that the new balls made was great, smiling faces all around. The feedback from feel/flight is much more consistent than ever before and the colour brings a freshness to the practice area. You will probably notice in the short term a mix of old and new balls, which we will endeavour to remove through a series of ball audits over the coming weeks. Please feel free to put any cracked or nasty looking balls (see picture below) in the rubbish bins by the ball machine or on the driving range. Any shortfall would greatfully be reimbursed. We hope you enjoy your new range experience!
If you haven’t already got one, don’t forget to purchase a members range card. It is the cheapest way to practice with approximately 850 balls for just £22.50!

Captain/Pro Matches

If you think you have what it takes then please take the challenge! We have various dates available, which are listed on the Pro’s noticeboard outside the men’s changing room, for you to put your names down. Our first challenge, which is yet to be filled, is Wednesday 16th April at 8:00am.

"I would like to update you all on the progress of the golf course now we are finally coming out of this dreadful winter:
Greens
After the hollow tining earlier this month we have continued to hand mow and roll the greens and given the greens their first feed of fertiliser. However we currently have uneven growth of the grass, due to the soil temperature being too low. Currently the soil temperature is about 7 degrees but we need this to increase to 10 degrees for the fertiliser to kick in and promote a more even growth.
Fairways
We are also struggling currently with even growth of the fairways for the same reason as the greens.
Tees
The tees have had their first feed of the year. We hope to go back on to the summer tees by Easter, possibly the week before.
Bunkers
During this week and next we will be putting sand back into the bunkers. The sand will need to settle which requires some rainfall. Once the sand has settled the bunkers will be back in play.
Irrigation
Our irrigation system was fired up again this week after being shut down during the winter months. If we continue to go without rain as we have over the last couple of weeks, we will have to start watering the course soon!"
Junior Coaching Dates Confirmed
The following dates have been confirmed for Junior Coaching during the next 3 months:

- Saturday 28th June: 1-2pm
All sessions will cost £10 per person . For safety reasons I can only coach a maximum of 8 juniors per session, so spaces will be allocated on a first come first serve basis. Golf clubs can be provided but please contact us in advance so we can make sure all equipment is available for the day.
