What!
As the Pro Shop staff arrived bright and breezy to open up Monday morning, who'd a thought it!
Of course in reality it came as little surprise. Over the past week or so a steady accumulation of rainwater has collected on or around the surface. Sunday witnessed members finishing their rounds a good deal heavier than they started with the amount of mud they were carrying and then overnight another half inch of rain fell.
Ok, it wasn't enough to replicate the pond of October here on the right, but conditions underfoot were treacherous. The girls, one eye on the not too optimistic weather forecast, had a nervous wait to see if their Texas Scramble would go ahead Tuesday. Sadly the ensuing trolley ban meant the field was decimated, so the decision was taken to abandon the comp.
Pancake Day...
Last Tuesday was the Cecil Leith 5 Club comp and being Shrove Tuesday, Mandy Ellis (Comp Sec) and Sue Siddle (lady Captain) decided on a pancake competition afterwards. Peter Goodsell and Terry Heaver were invited to participate. Terry was hoping to arrive dressed as a woman but the girls just couldn't have coped with the competition!!...
Before this began, our Lady Vice Captain, Sheila Grant, was celebrating her birthday and kindly provided the wine which loosened the ladies and gentlemen nicely. Thanks Sheila! John, Jo and Jan were sat ready for the entertainment to begin. Was it competitive.........not in the slightest!!!
The pancakes were provided and as the tossing and racing began, one lady, who shall remain nameless, tripped and fell, we were not sure if it was the wine or a dastardly deed (all ok though).
After various rounds Mary James won the glorious prize of a wooden spoon, lemon and pancake mix. Regan Curtis won "Best Pinny" and a bottle of Prosecco, the men also won wooden spoons!
Thanks to Mandy for running the games so strictly. A good afternoon had by all!
Rob's Coaching News
I have been working at R&CPG for about a month and I am really enjoying the experience, all the members I've met have made me feel welcome and made settling in to the club very easy. Now that I have settled in and made myself known to the members I would just like to let you all know that, after conferring with Warren, I have put my lesson price list together.
As a bit of background information, I am a Level 1 qualified coach and am currently studying to acquire my Level 2 coaching qualification. As part of the Level 2 course I need to deliver a 1 to 1 lesson as a practical assessment which will be in April, also I need to document 6 lessons I give prior to the final assessment. For now I will be focusing on the fundamentals, i.e. the set-up, whether that be in the long game or the short game, as I gain more experience and knowledge of the swing I will be able to deliver a more technically orientated lesson.
So if there is a niggle in your game that needs ironing out I will be happy to help!
