R15 Arrives!!
It's here!
The new TaylorMade R15 Driver has arrived in the Shop as we gear up for the season ahead.
I think back to the beginning of my love affair with the game of golf and there's a fond memory of the MacGregor driver me dear old Dad was kind enough to put in the bag for me. The one featured here is probably a little older, but it looks very much like the little beastie. Don't you just love persimmon!
You might think it's a wonder I ever took to the game, but of course we never knew what was just around the corner. It wasn't long before the old brassie was left in the corner of the garage, replaced by the incredibly shiny, state of the art, MAHOOSIVE, 'Trident' driver. It was a Callaway Big Bertha copy. I couldn't afford the real thing. :(
Over the years there have been many developments, new technology has meant constant new offerings from the hardware companies. The culmination of that innovation is here in the R15. With the launch of SLDR, TaylorMade rewrote the book and accordingly moved away a little from their easy looking style that we had all come to know and love. The R15 has moved the SLDR philosophy further forward, whilst the designers have managed to package it in the classic TaylorMade profile. This club not only plays great, it just looks so good.
Over the coming weeks I know the R15 is going to take it's place as a leading player on the golf course. TaylorMade have a fantastic pedigree for drivers and this just moves things to a different level.
It's in the shop now. Drop in and have a look, you know you want to. Once you've held it your hand, your heart will be lost forever. I've certainly fallen in love again, mind you, don't tell Sally!!
FootJoy 2015
This week we will be introducing our new for 2015 FootJoy stock. There are some old favourites and some completely new products. As you would expect though, they're all great quality and all very competitively priced. Of course it goes without saying (though I might just mention it) that we provide advice, fitting and fantastic aftersales service that the internet can never deliver.
Make Winter Work For You
The winter period is the ideal time to be prepping your equipment/game for the challenges of 2015, so over the coming weeks I’d like to share with you some of the hints and tips I picked up during the 7 years I played as a professional and the 2 years I caddied on the European Tour, so you can be fully equipped to tackle the season ahead.
First off grip maintenance; I see so many golfers with worn grips that are without question hurting their performance through increased grip pressure, leading to slower swing speeds which is not ideal. Part of my role as caddy was to follow the process I’ve detailed below every day without fail.
So during the off season try to scrub a little life back in to those tired grips, I did last week and it's made the world of difference. Start with a sink full of warm, soapy water and go to work with a toothbrush all over the grip. Towel them dry and leave to air off indoors. Not only should you now be able to hold your clubs without strangling them, you never know, it might just save you some pennies.
If that doesn’t do the job then replacement is the only option! So next time you're in the Shop why not check out the Grip and Spike Bar located by the counter in the shop. It’s been a fantastic addition to the Pro Shop services, allowing us to custom fit each every set we replace. We have over 400 grips in stock and claim to turn a set round in less than 24 hours- super fast! Our value doesn’t end there either, to finish off the service we will spring clean your heads and shafts.
New shop layout
Last week we started remodelling the Shop layout. This is a project that will give us more space and the opportunity to display even more of the great premium products we stock. There's an element of evolution involved whilst we experiment with slightly different layouts, but don't fret, we will still be delivering our very best service.
Just visible in the right of the photo is a rare example of 'New Man', a descendant of earlier, less enlightened, hominids.
