Which Irons?
With us seemingly through the toughest part of winter, maybe you're starting to think about some new clubs for this season? However, knowing which way to turn can become a bit of a minefield so over the next few weeks Rob is going to take a look at some of our offerings from our in house brands, in order to help make things a bit clearer... The three clubs in the dock for the next few weeks are Titleist T100, Callaway Mavrik and Cleveland HB Launcher Turbo irons where I'll be putting them into action myself and see what difference they made to my game but first let's take a look at their physical differences...

| There's something for everyone |
|
The first thing all the different manufacturers like to change to separate themselves from the rest is to tweak the lofts. Each season lofts seem to get stronger and stronger, if I cast my mind back to my first "proper" set of irons, Titleist ZB Forged, they were made in 2009 and the loft of the 7 iron was 35 degrees. |
Fast forward 11 years and things have certainly changed! The closest of my 3 Guinea Pig clubs to the ZB Forged is the T100s coming in at 34 degrees...but this is the weakest of all their iron offerings! Compare that our other 2 clubs, the Launcher HB Turbo is 30 degrees and the Mavrik is 27 degrees. The Mavrik 7 iron is equivalent to the 5 iron from my old ZB Forged set.
Aside from just cranking the lofts way down, the companies are always taking a deeper look at their technology in order to make your golf more pleasurable. For example, Titleist have developed a clever weighting system in their stock shafts where they are lighter in the longer clubs so that the golfer can maintain clubhead speed and square the clubface up to hit straight towering iron shots. |

Likewise, Cleveland have redeveloped the Launcher HB to create the Turbo. Simply by reshaping the crown and making the head more hollow they were able to create an even more forgiving, high launching iron head. . | | Cleveland HB Launcher Turbo |
Callaway have used Artificial Intelligence for the first time in their Mavrik irons in order for tungsten weights to be strategically placed in each different iron head. Although the lofts have been seriously cranked down, these tungsten weights make it easier to get the ball launching higher. | | Callaway Mavrik |

Bonus Ball
Last week's lucky winner with number 42 was Brian Partridge, getting his hands on a snazzy Peter Millar shirt and matching 1/4 zip pullover. If you want to be just as lucky as Brian and all our other winners then make sure you reserve your number this week. |
Don't just take our word for it... |
What do we want? Straighter shots. When do we want it? Now! Starting the ball on the right line is key and, by watching the video below, you'll learn one of the simplest ways to do exactly that. |
‘One of the important things about good golf is consistency and repetition’ We all know that’s easier said than done so when there's a way of creating consistency, it makes sense to take advantage. That is the point of Golf Pride’s ALIGN grips, which feature a raised ridge on the back (the red strip) to ensure repetitive hand placement, helping to keep the face square throughout the swing. Even better still, you can get a FREE ALIGN grip by coming to see us for a grip fitting! Click the link for more information.
