Callaway Experience Day
For one day only, R&CPGC will be taking over Callaway's National Fitting Centre to be one of the first to test-drive all the latest and greatest clubs for 2020! In the state of the art suite, you can get your hands on the BRAND NEW Mavrik driver, fairway woods, hybrids and irons as well as the BRAND NEW Jaws MD5 wedges with all your TrackMan data clear to see. From the moment you arrive, you'll feel a sense of calmness while you wait to see your friendly expert fitter. The butterflies may be in the stomach but once you cross the threshold into the fitting area you'll forget all about that and will be eager to get underway. |
The walls are covered with all the various different heads and shafts Callaway has to offer, giving the expert fitter thousands of different combinations to choose from but luckily all you have to do is hit some shots into the indoor screen down the virtual 18th hole at St. Andrews Old Course.
While you doing what you do best, the expert fitter and his TrackMan are doing exactly the same...finding (very quickly) a few different options they believe will improve your game. These days have proved very popular in the past and this one hasn't failed to disappoint either as the R&CPGC have taken some slots already but there are still times available so if you think 2020 is the year to update your golf bag then why not come along to Callaway's National Fitting Centre in Chessington? Take a look at the availability below and if you can make it, give the Pro Shop team a call... |

Custom Fitting at R&CPGC
You don't have to wait until we organise one of the Callaway Experience Days or any other Fitting Day in order to have a custom fit. You can get a custom fitting 7 days a week with either Rob or I with our exciting new GCQuad and custom fitting carts. But what is the process and how does the GC Quad help? |
Data Collection - before we can even comprehend building a new club for you, we need to know what we're up against. So, using the GCQuad, you will hit a few balls with your own club, just enough so we can build a fair and consistent picture of what you do.
Club Length - in order to gauge a starting point for the length of club, we measure the player's height and wrist to floor measurement before consulting our chart. This, however, is just a starting point...if we can go longer without sacrificing consistency of strike then we will. |
| Fitting Shafts |
|
Lie Angle - once we have found the length then we move onto the lie angle which will affect what direction the ball goes. If the club is too upright the ball will go left and would be needed to be adjusted so the sole is flatter on the floor at impact. Likewise, if the club is too flat it would go right. |

|
Shaft - this is where the GCQuad comes into play. Using the data we captured from the beginning of the fit we can quickly narrow down which flex of shaft you will need using clubhead speed and ball speed. From there we can try a few different options in the required flex. | | Shaft options available |
Grip - the final step is to find out which grip size is best. Simply by taking a couple of measurements, we'll find the recommended size for you but this is just a guide and ultimately you need to have what's comfortable too.

Above all else, however, the best reason to come to your PGA Professional for a custom fit rather than the guy down the road is because we spend countless hours advising and guiding you meaning we know your game better than anybody else (aside from you of course). If you have lessons with us, we already have a good idea of what head/shaft combination will fit the bill or if you don't we see a lot of your swings from the ProShop so we're well aware of what would help you. So if you're thinking 2020 could be the year to retire the old faithfuls then don't wait until we announce a Demo Day, come and speak to one of the team and we can get you booked in for a fitting seven days a week! |
Coming Soon
Custom Fittings are great because you get to see, in numbers, how a new club could put yours to shame but unfortunately, we don't play this game on driving range where you get reloads and a wide-open space. The golf course is the real acid test! So in order to put our demo clubs in the heat of battle against your clubs we are creating the very first On Course Demo Day where you'll get a chance to see what Callaway, Titleist & Cleveland have to offer. You'll get the chance to see where these new wands will finish up in comparison to your old trusty's. Date to be confirmed in next week's newsletter so make sure you keep an eye out for that but if this is something you are interested in, come into the Pro Shop and we will reserve you a place!

Bonus Ball
Last week's lucky winner with number 14 was Ross Peters who has got himself two Under Armour fleeces, perfect for the cold winter mornings. This week's sheet is open and ready for another lucky winner, could that be you? Make sure you don't miss out. |
It’s safe to say that the technology embedded into today’s clubs has helped us hit the ball further without swinging any harder. For some that might mean hitting the ball as far as we did before the effects of ageing started to take place, whereas for others it means booming drives 300+ yards and reaching par-5s in two. |
Just imagine... If you hit every club in your bag five to ten yards further, your tee shots will be longer and you'll have less distance remaining to the green. So, rather than standing there with a 6-iron you might now have an 8-iron in your hand, which gives you a much better chance of hitting it close.
|
We can help you! This can be the reality for a lot of club golfers today, but only if you make sure your clubs are right for your swing. With lots of new products hitting the shelves in the coming weeks, now's the perfect time to try out a few different options and see if we can make a difference to your game. |
