The Top 3 won a Christmas Hamper just in time for the big day and the lucky three were Bill Phelps (37 points), Joe Phillips (40 points) and Nick Panting (44 points). Now, for those of you who don't know Nick, he plays off +2 so for him to reach a tally of 44 points, he shot 10 under par gross.

That round still baffles me because if you were here you would know that the wind and rain combination could be classed as a typhoon so well done Nick on a cracking round of golf.

The Sunday competition was a couple of weeks ago but we can now reveal the winners...once again the top 3 got a festive hamper each and they were Alex Pink (39 points), Terry Fogarty (40 points) and Lee Little (41 points).

Outside the Top 3, the prizes went as far down as 37th place on Saturday and 25th on Sunday with 30 and 34 points, reaching the cut respectively. Take a look below to see if you're one of the lucky winners.

Junior Texas Scramble

Last weekend the Junior Section had their Christmas Texas Scramble, Presentation and Lunch which I had the privilege of being invited to play in and attend.

There were nine teams of four players made of juniors, parents and other family members were the eventual winners the Defending Champions Lucas Dennison, Jack Lee, Paul Dennison and Gary Underwood, well-played guys!

After the golf, everybody got suited and booted to celebrate the 2019 winners with Captain Mark Riddick doing the honours of presenting the trophies. All the players were also joined by more friends and family where there were over 80 people for lunch. What fantastic support for the juniors.

The whole day really put into perspective how far the Junior Section has come on in a matter of 18 months down to the hard work from the Junior Committee led by Junior Organiser, Kurt Dennison. When Kurt took on his role the Junior Competitions were lucky to have more than 4 entrants with some even being called off.

Fast forward to now and there is not only a strong showing in every Junior Competition but there is also a Blue Tee Competition accompanying them for the strong breed of younger golfers setting off in their golfing careers.

These Blue Tee events have already yielded some more competition for the established Juniors only making the entries bigger for main competitions. Kurt and his team should be immensely proud of what they have accomplished so far and I know for a fact they're not resting on their laurels and have big plans for 2020.

So on behalf of R&CPGC, I would like to thank them for setting up the future for years to come!
