A successful season It's been a successful season for various R&CPGC teams with four of them reaching finals, one of which has been played and the others are this weekend.
Juniors - Knole Park Trophy
Last Sunday our junior section was up against Dartford GC in the final of the Knole Park Trophy which was held at Royal Blackheath GC. Harry Parkhouse tells us how the action unfolds...
On Sunday, the junior team travelled to Royal Blackheath GC to play against Dartford GC, aiming to win the Knole Park Trophy for the first time. The team was managed by Rob Parkhouse on the day since Kurt was already away on a pre-arranged trip. |
Harry Parkhouse led out the team and went down early on but good golf secured him a 5&4 win; the first point on the board. Out in the last match, Matthew Darbinson had a good round, beating his opponent 6&5, putting the second point on the board for R&CPGC. Luke Jenkins, out in match two, secured a 3&2 win on 16 to give R&CPGC the winning point, making it 3-0. In match 3, Lucas Dennison had a hard-fought game which went right down to the 18th but narrowly lost.
Junior Captain Riley Dowle was out in match 4, in another very tight match which went down to 18 all square, however, Riley won the 18th to give R&CPGC their final point. The day ended with a final score of 4-1 meaning R&CPGC won the Knole Park Trophy for the first time. |
| Congratulations boys, plenty more to come |

Top Club
This Sunday, Top Club Captain Tony Hastings will be taking his team to Sittingbourne & Milton Regis GC to take on Nizels GC to be crowned champions. All season long Tony has chosen four players to take on the opposition in a betterball matchplay format. One pair plays at their home course and the other plays at the away course with each match being played to an 18 hole conclusion and the scores being added together. Tony and his boys will be teeing it up at 11:40am and 11:48am, we wish them the best of luck and we cannot wait for you to bring it home. |
Scratch - Kent Amateur Foursomes
Also this Sunday at Sittingbourne & Milton Regis GC, we will have our scratch boys battling it out against Wrotham Heath GC. A very similar format to Tony's Top Club but this time they play foursomes, a very tough format. All through the summer, Captain Mike Bush has picked his strongest four available scratch golfers and they have batted off various other golf clubs. They are ready to go one last time this summer and will be teeing off at 11:24am and 11:32am. The boys are hungry for this one as they have never won it before...let's hope the class of 2019 can change that. |
Scratch - Perman Shield
AGAIN, this Sunday we have the Perman Shield boys in action at R&CPGC taking on Wildernesse to be crowned champions...can R&CPGC make it 2 in a row? Not an ideal situation, having to spread our scratch players across two finals but such is the strength and depth of the section we are more than capable of field two sides. Captain Bob Florence and his boys will have 36 holes to dismantle their opposition; 18 holes of foursomes and 18 holes of singles matchplay. The morning round will be teeing off between 8:00am and 8:30am, then the afternoon round will be between 1:00pm and 2:00pm. Obviously this may cause some disruption to your round but please be mindful of the guys, there will be several tee closures to ensure their rounds flow smoothly so if you are planning on playing on Sunday please make contact with the Pro Shop and we can advise the best time for you to play. |
With three teams in action this weekend, they could all do with some support so if you're at a loose end and want to cheer any of the teams on I'm sure they would be very grateful their R&CPGC colleagues are fully behind them. |

Bonus Ball
Unfortunately, nobody picked the winner number last week, 54, so that means this week's prize pot could be worth a whopping £214. So, if you think you have the luck to take the spoils then make sure you get your name on the sheet.
