Care for your course... Danny and the boys have put some hours in over the winter and I think you will agree we're now starting to see the benefits from it, the course looks immaculate and the greens are running true. You may have seen that the new rubber crumb paths have finally started to go down and are set to be complete this week. We now have a comfortable walk to the 1st tee, 10th tee and the driving range as well as a smooth walk off the 4th tee.
| Starting on the back 9 won't seem such a hardship now! |
| A far more comfortable walk to your practice session. |
Buggies You will also see the green ropes are out as a guide for where you can take the buggies, please ensure you stick to these paths to allow the rough to grow consistently and as it should, also the buggies will get damaged too which could mean an expensive end to a leisurely round of golf. Can you also ensure buggies and single seaters are not parked right up to the edge of the green and are parked at least 10 yards away from the green. You will notice the red signs in front of the greens, guiding you away from the approach areas, this is just to keep them all in the fantastic condition they are now.

Pace of play... Now the weather has turned a corner, I'm sure you have noticed the course is getting busier and so pace of play is as important as ever. Some days will be slower than others, but even still please ensure you are just behind the group in front and not just in front of the group behind. We accept that sometimes you get a group behind you that seem to be running round the course so to avoid disrupting their game and feel like you are not rushing yours, please stand aside at a convenient time and let them play through. Competitions are very popular at R&CPGC and have been very busy so please be aware of pace of play in those too. Just by doing a couple of little things, you will be surprised how it keeps the round flowing... Play to the format - if the competition is stableford, for example, please ensure if you cannot score then pick your ball up. Provisionals - if you have hit a wayward shot and think it may be in trouble then please hit a provisional ball to save the time and energy of running back to where you hit the original ball from. Two ball rule - if you come up against a tricky situation and you are unclear of the rule then rather than finding the correct ruling and holding up the group behind, play 2 balls. Play each ball with the different procedures and then clarify with the ProShop which was the correct course of action before you enter your score. Three very simple tricks and I'm sure many of you know them already but just a gentle reminder as nobody enjoys a 5 hour round of golf!
Tee Time Booking Monday - Friday Can you also please be aware that with the course becoming busier it is even more vital you check into the ProShop before play and book your tee-time. You can only book a tee-time on the day when the ProShop opens from 7:30am. You can start from first daylight but please remember the green staff get priority until 8:00am so they can set the course up for the day. Depending how many are in your group will dictate which tee you will star from, just to remind you please find the correct starting times below...
| For the best round, please ensure you start in the right place!
Saturday, Sunday & Bank Holiday (non-competition days) Weekends differ from weekdays slightly in the fact that between 7:30am and 9:30am 2,3 & 4 balls can start on either starting tee (1st or 10th). If you see that the 10th tee is clear then please do not hesitate to start from there as you will have a better flow to your round as the 1st tee proves very popular! However, between 9:30am and 11:30am both starting tees close to allow for a crossover period in which nobody can tee off. Then once the starting tees re-open again at 11:30am, you are free to start on either tee. However, to ensure you get the best possible flow to your round, please check into the ProShop before starting and we can advise you.

Pitchmarks & divots... As you all know and seen, Danny and the boys work their socks to give you a fantastically manicured golf course so to give them a hand can you please remember to replace your divots and repair your pitchmarks. When you are on the green, if you do see an unrepaired pitchmark then please repair it. The greenstaff are extra busy now the seasons have changed so if you can do these two things then that will save them time and they will be very grateful for your help.

| Help keep the putting surface running smooth.

| You wouldn't like to play out of this! |

Alps Tour Last week Jordan Godwin was in action on the Alps Tour at Golf Valdeluz in Spain. Located just 30 minutes outside of Madrid, the par 72 is renounced for its wide fairways and wide greens, plenty of chance to record good FIR & GIR stats but if your're not accurate then the putting stats will hold you down the leaderboard. Thankfully Jordan had a very solid week finishing on 17 under par for 3 rounds which could only leave him in a tie for 25th, with the winnings core being 28 under par! Jordan got off to a flyer with an opening round of 9 under par, 63. Such is the nature of the beast, Jordan stalled slightly in the second round, only managing 3 under par which on a course where the leaders are shooting low 60s, that will feel like he's stood still. However, Jordan finished his tournament off with a 5 under par 67 giving him his final total, 17 under par.
| For all the power Jordan possesses!
| He still has a silky touch! |

What would you say if we could show you a way of achieving greater accuracy and longer distance from the tee? You would say yes, right? Well, here’s your answer… |
| Have you been custom fitted?
First things first, the easiest way to achieve the holy grail of long, straight drives is to find the middle of the clubface every time, which is easier said than done for most of us. Following that, it’s all about launching your drives high with a good spin rate. Simple, right? It doesn’t matter how fast or smoothly you swing, if the clubhead and shaft are a bad match for the way you play, your chances of sending a perfect drive into the air will be seriously hampered. |
| Callaway Epic Flash drivers
So, the very first thing we need to do is get you fitted correctly. During the process, we will chat about your game, watch you hit some balls, and assess what you have told us in order to find the right shaft/head combination for your game. Two clubs that we will definitely try are Callaway’s Epic Flash and Epic Flash Sub-Zero drivers. Both drivers come with Flash Face and Jailbreak Technology for increased ball speeds, with the Sub-Zero being a lower-spin option. So, rather than going for the easy online purchase, come down to the club for an enjoyable custom fit session with a member of the team. |
