Srixon Z85 Series With the price of clubs going through the roof, it's becoming harder for golfers to bring themselves to update their equipment. Srixon, however, have not followed the trend and made their clubs affordable but still with great performance. We've taken a look at 2019's offerings from the top manufacturers to see how they compare on prices, take a look below... |
To make it a fair comparison, we've taken the like for like clubs from each of the manufacturers and as you can see Srixon comes out on top across the board without sacrificing performance. When the Z785 driver was under testing, it was giving off faster ball speeds than the Callaway Rogue, Taylormade M3&4 and Ping G400 which were some of the most popular drivers in 2018.
|
These faster ball speeds were thanks to the Cup Face technology. Basically rather than welding the face onto the clubhead like most other drivers, the Z785's face is like a cup and slots over the rest of the clubhead. This makes the face thinner allowing it to flex more at impact. Don't think the Z785 is all about power because we need some kind of accuracy, right? What's the point in driving a ball into a bush 300 yards away? The lightweight, carbon crown has freed up weight which has been redistributed to the perimeter of then head to provide more stability and straighter drives. If you would like to give the Srixon Z785 a test drive then why not pop into the ProShop and one of the team can talk you through what it can offer. Or maybe book a fitting with either Rob or myself and we can figure out which head & shaft combination will suit you.

Course Backwards Last Sunday, 100 R&CPGC patrons broke into teams of 4 to attempt to play the course backwards, you did read that correct...backwards. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this fun competition, you tee it up next to the green and work your way back down the hole to the previous green. So for example, start next to the 18th green, play back down the fairway and hit approach shots into the 17th green. As you can imagine there are some holes not for the feint-hearted! The R&CPGC patrons were playing Texas Scramble but that didn't mean to say the format would be easier. However, the team consisting of Mark Powell, Anthony Harwood, Frankie Akif & Tom Lee didn't seem to find it a struggle after knocking it round in 53.4! Maybe they're highly skilled or maybe they are just used to playing from unusual places...I'll let you make your own mind up on that one!

Range clear... Last Thursday I was joined by Alan Young & Martin Simpson to rescue the errant practice balls from the rough and copse of trees either side of the driving range. In just over an hour the Three Musketeers managed to pick up over 650 golf balls, it was like a military operation! Afterwards we ventured into the clubhouse for a well deserved pint, big thanks to Alan and Martin for giving up their time to come and lend their Pro a hand. Bonus Ball
Last week's lucky rollover winner was Mark Dennis, bagging himself 2 Oscar Jacobson sweaters. This week's sheet is up and running so be sure to claim your number to be in with a chance of winning.

Sometimes it's not only their golfing ability that impresses us when watching the world's best on TV, but also the stylish clothing that they wear. Golfers, like Jordan Spieth, always wear the latest golf-specific clothing to give them an edge on the course, as you can see below. |
| Jordan Spieth | Under Armour clothing
|
|
Under Armour's latest collection for spring/summer '19 oozes style and is, without doubt, one of their best clothing ranges to date. The main thing we love this year is Under Armour's combination of striking colours and breathable fabric, enabling them to create a fashionable range that wouldn't look out of place off the course.
You too can dress like Jordan by popping into the shop and taking a look at the full Under Armour collection in-store. |
