What a great crowd you are!
We have been overwhelmed by the support shown thus far for our END OF SEASON SALE.
The Shop's efforts to offer the best service all year round depends on the support of our membership, time and again you prove to be a fantastic group. Thank you to everyone that visited so far this week and don't forget the SALE runs until close of business this Sunday.
Many bargains have already been snapped up, but we still have a great deal of incredible offers to share. Some of the prices are making my eyes water, a couple have seen me in tears. Yet I know it's all in a good cause, so I eventually manage to find sleep in the small hours.
On the right is one of our happy shoppers, Shaun Macklin. He knows a bargain when he sees one and this was only one of his visits.
Lord knows how he gets it all home on his pushbike!
To ensure everyone received the attention they deserve, we had to pull in both our Cub Reporters and the Sub Editor to lend a hand on the shop floor.
Accordingly, this weeks newsletter content is a bit thin, but we hope you understand and we'll be back with a vengeance next week with the Autumn Meeting and much more to report on.
Range Clearing Extravaganza!?
Not content with supporting the sale, members were out in force helping save all the range balls nestling in the long grass around the range. It was a fantastic effort as, over two days, we salvaged over two and a half thousand balls! That's over £800 worth, so a big, big, thank you to all that took part.
The Friday team, Left to right: Martin O'Donnell, Martin Simpson, Warren, Mark Ward, Captain Steve Howard, Peter McArdle. Plus Mark and Peter looking for the lost tribe of Cobham.
The Saturday crew that consisted of Kerry Jones and Terry Watts had a much tougher task, mostly due to the fantastic work the team did the day before and also they were clearing the hookers side of the driving range, the left rough! After 30 minutes of concentrated ball hunting it was clear that our membership were predominantly slicers, that or the hookers don't practice very often.
Newsletter content
Whilst on the subject, we would be pleased to include links to articles from any of you budding correspondents out there. Whether you're part of a particular section and want to report your groups activities, or one of those blogger types with a humorous line to share. All you need to do is write your copy in a word document and attach it to a covering email addressed to warren_wood@hotmail.co.uk. We will of course retain editorial control, nothing libellous, nor defamatory toward the Pro Shop will get through.
Captain and Professional Matches Update
A few rumblings have been heard casting aspersions on the all conquering team due to the lack of a report on the match against Team Beslee. Be silent you doubters! Nothing underhand has come to pass, it was simply a matter of inclement weather and a postponement until another day. Rest assured, once the match has been played, the result will be trumpeted from the rooftops.
Our Penultimate match against Steve Diprose and Alan Young was another tightly fought contest. Through the halfway point we managed to take a slender 2 hole advantage. A brief pit stop at the halfway and off we went fully charged for the final few holes. We followed our birdie on the 9th with birdies on 10, 12 and 13. The barrage was too much for our opponents to handle, and we closed out the match on the 13th green. The highlight of my day had to be the 9th, a 300 yard plus drive that cleared the pathway, a sand iron into 4 feet and a rare one putt! Not bad for a Mars Bar seller.
Thanks again to our Challengers and hopefully see you next year for a rematch.
Matt Haines has spent the week agonising over a tough decision. Does he attend Tour School, or would he be better served playing in Kazakhstan. A recent return to form means Matt would need four good rounds and a top fifteen finish to gain a full card on next year's Challenge Tour. Whilst Tour School would require ten good rounds, but offers the chance of a European Tour card.
Good luck with the decision Matt, hope it works out whichever way you go.
