European Tour School Qualifying Stage 2 After their heroics at Stage 1, Jordan Godwin & Alfie Plant were back on the hunt to get their European Tour cards for 2019. Here's how they got on... Jordan was playing at Desert Springs Golf Club; a par 72 course in Almería, Spain. After a disappointing opening round of 78, 6 over par, Jordan followed up with rounds of 72 (level), 70 (-2) & 67 (-5) to finish on -1 for the week. Unfortunately he come up a tad short and missed out on the Final Stage by 7 shots. Alfie Plant was trying his luck at Alenda Golf in Alicante, another testing par 72. Alfie opened with a steady 71 (-1) which he followed up with 69 (-3) taking him to 4 under par and in good position. A poor third round of 78 (+6) sent him rocketing down the leaderboard unfortunately but he regrouped and fired in a final round 67 (-5). Alfie's -3 total left him just 3 shots shy of a place in the Final Stage.

Scratch Team vs. Juniors On Sunday 11th November, eight of our Club Juniors took on the Men’s Scratch Team in a friendly match. Both sides fielded very strong teams with Mike Bush leading the Scratch team and Harry Parkhouse leading the Junior team. The Juniors very quickly realised they had their work cut out with the Scratch team rattling in birdies from everywhere and the Juniors were down in three of the four matches at the turn. The Juniors weren’t ready to rollover though and all staged a spirited fightback on the back nine. It wasn’t quite enough in two of the matches and the Scratch Team ended up winning the day with a 2 ½ to 1 ½ victory.

Monthly Stableford Last Saturday we had 107 of the R&CPGC faithful brave the cold winds to take the Monthly Stableford, here's how they did... Taking the spoils in Division 2 was Neil Anderson with a cracking 38 points, however he came up just 2 points short of taking the gold overall thanks to Steve Brown in Division 1 who returned a whopping 40 points! Both received a handicap cut and an injection of funds into their ProShop account. Well done guys! Bonus Ball Last week's lucky winner was Lee Little with number 53, bagging himself 3 Under Armour shirts. This week's sheet is underway so make sure you pick your numbers wisely...or just close your eyes and put a pin in it!

When you're playing golf during the winter, your shots don't carry as far or roll out as much as they would in the summer. It's just a fact of life. It also means that judging distances to the green becomes a lot trickier, with many amateur golfers coming up a little short with approach shots. Have you noticed this trend in your own game recently? |
| Step 1: Gapping session Well, if you come and see us for a gapping session, we can work out the exact yardage that you hit each club in your bag, making finding the green more often a reality. However, you won't realise the benefits of knowing your distances unless you know how far you need to hit the ball, something that a Garmin GPS device will certainly help with. |
| Step 2: Garmin GPS device The Approach S10 is the perfect solution to your yardage woes. Featuring a high-sensitivity GPS receiver, the S10 will give you the distance data you need to play better golf (front, middle and back as well as hazards and doglegs). This technology is there to help you, so make sure you're taking full advantage like most other golfers are! |
