Welcome to another edition of our newsletter, in this week’s mail we check in with our young aspiring professionals, it was the juniors turn for a major competition, Dave calls on his experience for the win, and it is just a week to go until our Callaway Fitting Day. Enjoy the read!

Tour news

EuroPro Tour - Newmachar Golf Club

This week we had Jack Colegate, Jordan Godwin & Michael Saunders in action on the EuroPro Tour at Newmachar Golf Club in Aberdeen, a long way from home but how did they do?

The boys all had decent first rounds with Jack & Jordan firing in 3 under par 69 and Michael had a level par 72. However, weather conditions worsened through the week and the tournament was reduced to 36 holes.

On day 2 the boys had a real battle on their hands with Jordan and Michael shooting 77 & 75 respectively, whilst Jack battled for a level par 72 and grabbing himself a top 20 finish.

Introducing Jordan Godwin

What is the strongest part of your game and why?

Driving, I hit it long & straight, approximately 300 yard carry

What is your favourite course?

Finca Cortesin

What is the lowest score you’ve shot and where?

63 -9 Kings Hill Golf Club

What are you best golfing moments to date?

2018 Kent PGA Champion (inc course record at Knole Park), qualified at European Q School Stage 1 (2017 & 2018) and over 20 Professional wins on PGA South Region.

What are your hobbies outside of golf?

Football & motor racing

What’s in the bag?

PING LST G400 driver, PING G400 3 wood, PING G400 crossover, PING iBlade irons 4 – PW, PING Glide Stealth wedges 50,54&58.

How many hole in ones have you had and where?

The London Club x 2, Pedham Place, Wrotham Heath

What is your dream fourball (past or present) and where?

Tiger Woods, Nick Faldo & my Dad, its got to be at Augusta.

What are you aims & ambitions for the future?

To be on the European Tour by 2020 and win by 2022.

Bims Trophy

Sunday 16th September was host to one of the Junior “Majors” of the year, the Bim's Challenge Trophy along with a very well represented 9 Hole Blue Tee competition. The competition was once again kindly sponsored by Bim Smith's family, with Bim's daughter Jackie presenting the main prizes after the presentation dinner.

Nine Juniors took part in the 18 hole main competition, Riley Dowle and Lucas Dennison both posted nett 75’s but that wasn’t quite enough to win the prestigious trophy with Oliver Lewis-Perkins scoring a nett 73. Other prizes went to Jake Antoun, winner of the Jo Beslee Trophy and Scott Antoun, winner of the Paul Mitchell Trophy.

The 9 Hole Blue Tee competition had a record number of ten golfers take part, with each Junior taking their best six gross scores. There was excellent golf played by all those who took part along with some very impressive scoring by some who had played throughout the year.

The top spots were claimed by Jenson Ringer in 3rd place with a score of +9, Miles Jarmak in 2nd place with +7 and the winner with a fantastic score of +6 was Oliver McDonnell.

Every Junior that took part also won a sleeve of golf balls thanks to a very generous donation from Mark Hutchinson.

Oscar Ash Cups

On Wednesday 12th September Andrew Johnson, Mark Hutchinson & Dave Jessup went to Kings Hill GC to try and bring home the Oscar Ash Cups.

Andrew and Mark managed to grab top 20 finishes. Dave, however, called upon all of his experience to knock it round in 76 & 73 to claim a 2 shot victory in the scratch prize!

Callaway Fitting Day

Don't forget that on Saturday 6th October our Callaway expert Alex Hunter will be heading to R&CPGC tasked with the mission of making improvements to your golf game.

Alex will have a van packed to the rafters with all his clubs including the powerful Rogue and forgiving XR Speed families. If you want to take advantage of one of the 30 minute fitting slots please contact the ProShop.

New irons to improve your game
