Captain's Prize The member's flagship competition of the year took place this weekend, The Captain's Prize. There were a whopping 149 players taking part on Saturday and 101 for the Sunday, doing battle over the two days for some wonderful prizes. Captain Dave Raymond was blessed with some fine weather for the weekend; the Sun was out, temperatures reached mid to high twenties & the wind was somewhat calm...the conditions were perfect for some excellent scoring. On Saturday we had a tie at the top with two of the R&CPGC faithful on a fine score of 41 points. Setting the early pace was Richard Boiston who, playing off 6 handicap, found himself on 24 points after 9 holes, equivalent to 3 under par gross! Joining him at the end of the day was Barry McNally who opened up with a steady 19 points on the front 9 but put the afterburners on for the back 9 collecting 22 points! All to play for on Sunday... After the dizzy heights of their scoring the previous day, Richard & Barry couldn't quite re-create their fine form but they could still feature amongst the prizes. The best score of the day on Sunday was yet another 41 points, this time from Ben Meyrick with two solid 9's of 19 and 22 points. Barry McNally managed 32 points on Sunday which combined with his whopping 41 points from Saturday was enough to claim victory from Dave Stracey by 1 point and become Captain's Prize Champion 2018! Barry bagged himself a Big Max Quattro trolley as well as an invitation to the Prize Giving dinner. Well played Barry!
