Captain's Charity Day Captain Dave Raymond & Lady Captain Jan Fitzgerald had their Captains' Charity Day on Saturday which saw 33 team comprised of the R&CPGC faithful, 4 in each team. Seeing as the whole day was in the name of charity, the day was a non-qualifier meaning no handicaps were in danger of increasing or decreasing...fun golf was on the agenda! The teams were playing stableford where 2, 3 or 4 scores were to count on each hole and the best of the bunch was the Guest Red Boys team consisting of Dr John Grace, Dr John Fraser, Mike Breton & Ray Gardner with a cracking score of 111 points bagging themselves a day out at North Foreland GC! The £10,000 hole in one prize was up for grabs yet again on the 8th hole and it was in danger of being claimed this year as Kurt Dennison hit a towering iron shot which landed close to the pin, shaved the edge and finished behind the hole! We did try to get Kurt to comment but he was sadly unavailable. In fact, rumour has it he's still in the corner of the spike bar crying! What is it they say about money buying happiness? Dave & Jan would also like to give a big thank you to all the helpers on the day and a massive thank you to the R&CPGC faithful who gave so generously throughout the day! At first count they took over £800 on the day!

Par 3 Championships One of the best loved fun blue tee events will be returning to R&CPGC on Friday 15th June; the R&CPGC Par 3 Championship. We setup a bespoke 9 hole par 3 course across the front 9, all very quirky shots which you wouldn't normally expect. In previous years we've hit some crazy shots such as next to the practice bunker on the driving range to the practice chipping green, a fiddly little 60-70 yard shot. We've also hit from the blue tee on the first hole to the 3rd green, albeit not a long shot but very tricky as the green slopes away from you quite severely. Once all the fun has been had on the golf course, we head back into the clubhouse for fish and chips supplied by Naz Gill to sit down in front of the big screen and watch all the action unfold at the US Open. If you would like to join in the fun, then please sign up via the ProShop, entry will cost £12 which includes the mouth watering fish & chips and prizes. Contact us here.

Recent results In the past month our junior section have kicked off their campaign in the Knole Park Trophy & Kent Junior Foursomes. Here's how they got on... On Sunday 6th May they boys took on West Kent Golf Club in the Knole Park Trophy, the format was 5 singles matches. As the boys reached the turn things were very tight with 4 of the 5 matches all square or just 1 hole in it. The boys dug in on the back 9 to claim a 3.5 - 1.5 victory to march into the next round where a trip away to The Nevil awaits. You can find the full results card below...

On Sunday 20th May the team made the short trip to Dartford GC for a place in the next round of the Kent Junior Foursomes where the boys play Matchplay to a conclusion and the 2 results are added together to give a final match result. The first pairing of Harry Parkhouse & Riley Dowle won their match 1 up and the second pair of Jake Antoun & Lucas Dennison lost their match 2 down which means R&CPGC lose by 1 hole.
Half Term Junior Camp With half term next week I'm sure you are searching for things to do to keep the kids entertained, so why not bring them down to R&CPGC for Rob's half term coaching camp? Rob explains more... On Wednesday 30th May from 9:00am - 11:00am we will be on the practice ground learning some key aspects of the game in a fun relaxed environment. The session will contain fun mini games which the kids can track their progress as well, then I will give them some pointers to help improve their scores when we come to try the mini game again. Spaces are limited to just 8 kids but there are still a few spaces left so if you think your child, grandchild, niece, nephew or even your neighbour will enjoy taking part then you can sign up in the ProShop and this fun informative morning will cost £25.

Buggy Prices Some of you may have noticed we have a new fleet of buggies or you may have just thought they've had a real good clean! The new fleet incorporates a slick new shape as well a double USB port so if you forgot to charge your GPS device, there's no panic as you can do it on the way round! To allow for these little upgrades & to help maintain them to prolong their service, there will be a small price increase to £12 for a R&CPGC member & £30 for a visitor which will be effective as of Friday 1st June.

We may be heading into summer soon but it’s still important to have the right clothing on you in case the weather changes. A lightweight mid-layer is the perfect piece to keep in your bag for exactly this reason, and combining it with other layers can create a great look.
