Callaway Fitting Day This week we had our Callaway expert, Alex Hunter, come to R&CPGC with all the latest clubs for some of the R&CPGC faithful to try with the hope of making golf a whole lot easier for them. Alex was fully booked from 12:30pm until 8:00pm kicking off with Bernie Scotland who found an extra 15 yards through the bag leading to him replacing his whole set! While that was going on Rob was out with Steve Garner looking at replacing his irons, after playing around with a few combination Steve was getting on average 15 yards more compared to his own irons! Another of the big improvers was Gary Carter, who Alex found an extra 20 yards per iron, simply by changing the shaft and finding one that was a little stiffer in the tip. The final fitting of the day saw the most in form man at R&CPGC, Ricky Hall, test out the Rogue fairway woods and with an aftermarket shafts he was carrying a 3 wood on average 277 yards! Those were just some of the biggest improvements but what is even more exciting is that everybody who had a fitting found something that improved upon what they were currently using! The improvements were so impressive that 9 of the 12 guys went onto order some new bats. If you were unable to attend this Fitting Day don't worry as we will look to organise another very soon so keep your eyes on coming newsletters. |

Pro-Am We've just 6 weeks until the best of the best South Region PGA Professionals take to R&CPGC in the annual Pro-Am. They will be joined by 3 R&CPGC members or visitors in an effort to claim a sort after victory. The day begins with a casual coffee & bacon roll on arrival giving you the perfect opportunity to meet your PGA Professional and devise your team's game plan for the day. A quick warm up on the driving range, get your pace with the putter and you're ready to head onto the golf course, some venturing further than others to reach their starting tee. Although the VIP teams won't have far to travel, seeing as part of their package is prime tee location and a top PGA Professional. Once the golf has been completed, everybody heads back to the clubhouse for a fine carvery dinner, the auction presented by MC Robin Packer, where some wonderful fourball vouchers will be up for grabs & the icing on the cake, the presentation of the winners and there extraordinary prizes. The startsheet is starting to take shape so if you want to be a part of the action make sure to get your team in, you can find the entry form below or pop into the ProShop and speak to one of the ProShop team.

Monthly Medal & Frank Brooks Hill Trophy Last Sunday was the Monthly Medal & Frank Brooks Hill Trophy which saw 86 of the R&CPGC faithful battle it out to become victorious and get an early invitation to the Prize Giving Dinner. The best of the bunch was in form Ricky Hall who knocked in a fantastic net 69 which included a chip in par on the 18th to secure a 1 shot victory. Ricky's handicap took a 0.4 cut putting him on the cusp of 2 handicap. Even more impressively, his handicap was 4.5 at the start of the year but he pushed on and has found his purple patch, let's hope it continues!

Royal Marine's Challenge Shield The week's previous competition report was the Royal Marine's Challenge Shield and a key piece of information was omitted. Joe Hughes managed to expertly assess the shot from the second tee, so much so his ball finished at the bottom of the cup in one shot! Joe took half the twos pot as well as racking up a healthy bar tab, not that he needs much encouragement to get up to the bar! Congratulations Joe!

Once we've finished on the golf course we then head back into the clubhouse for some fish & chips whilst sitting down in fron to fthe big screen to watch the action unfold at the US Open.
