Pro Am There's just 8 weeks until the annual Pro-Am. A fun packed, relaxed day gives R&CPGC members and visitors the opportunity to peg it up alongside a top PGA Professional from the South Region. Before you head out to the golf course you will get to meet your PGA Professional over a coffee and bacon roll, the perfect opportunity to start devising each of your team's roles from the pin seeker to the safety player. Next stop...the golf course! You've got your team order sorted, everybody knows their roles and all that's left is to play golf and enjoy the round. On the way round you will get the opportunity to pick the brains of your PGA Professional on all manner of subjects whether that be coaching tips, their course strategy, their experiences or whatever you wish to know.

The round's complete, you've got the winning score and the day is almost complete. Before you head off home your team will have a carvery dinner expertly prepared by resident chefs Jackie & Bernie, the perfect time for a post game debrief. Now dinner's out of the way, MC Robin Packer takes to the microphone for the auction where you can get your hands on some fourball vouchers at some fantastic courses, in previous years we've had London Golf Club, Royal Wimbledon Golf Club & Worthing Golf Club as well as many more. So, you've had a great day on the golf course with a fantastic PGA Professional, belly full of food & just nabbed a bargain fourball voucher. All that's left is to collect your prize with the curtain closing presentation starting with the awesome nearest the pin and longest drive prizes. Now onto the main event, you've won top prize but there will also be 2 other teams on the podium to collect their second and third place prizes. The best thing about the day? You get bragging rights for the next year saying that you came and you conquered the R&CPGC Pro-Am! If you and 2 of your friends fancy this being your story then be sure to enter through the ProShop now, spaces will be limited so make sure you're fast! Click here for a Pro-Am entry form.

US Open Par 3 Championship It's been about a month since Patrick Reed claimed his first major title and got us all excited about the coming season. Well there's just 6 weeks until the second major championship of the season, the US Open which is at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club. Another major championship means another sweepstake so make sure you keep your eyes out for entry forms in the coming weeks but what we can tell you about is the fun blue tee event we run to fall in line with the US Open. The R&CPGC Par 3 Championships on Friday 15th June, 5:30pm shotgun start. This is one of the most popular fun events and usually has approximately 50 R&CPGC members taking part plus a few extras that come up for some dinner and to watch the drama unfold on the big screen. Each year we compose a unique par 3 course all around the front 9, hitting into greens you wouldn't expect to play from, although I'm sure for some of you some of these shots are just like any other round of golf! Once we have finished on the golf course, everybody heads back into the clubhouse for fish and chips accompanied by pots of authentic USA inspired sweets. The player's other halves come up as well to enjoy the evening, bring the kids as well to make it a fun evening out for all. The format is teams of 4 with best 2 stableford scores to count as well as a singles stableford, for which there are small prizes for both winners. Don't get excited though, the budget doesn't stretch too far for the prizes but what you will have is bragging rights for the whole year, some things are more important than prizes! So if you and 3 friends fancy a fun packed evening on the golf course which will also stretch to the bar then make sure you get your names down and reserve your slot, speak to one of the ProShop team today!

Darnley Challenge Cup Last Saturday saw 150 of the R&CPGC faithful take on the same challenge; to be crowned Darnley Challenge Cup champion 2018. We had a tie at the top from 2 different divisions and 2 totally different styles of play this was the mismatch of the century. From division 1 was big hitting Sam Shearer and from division 2 we had Dr. John Fraser. The guys couldn't be separated from a back 9 countback as they both had 19 points but we found a winner on the back 6 holes and Sam managed to steal the win by a single point! Both guys took top spot in each of their divisions and the 1st spot prize money and a slashing to the handicap; Sam down to +1 and John to 20, challenge is on now boys, well played!

| Sam later posted this picture while he was out celebrating!

Medal Winners Shield The next day we had 15 of the Midweek & Monthly Medal winners from the past 12 months do battle to become the Medal Winner's Champion, the cream of the strokeplay crop. The cream that rose to the top was Matt Barron with a scintillating 71 in very blustery and cold conditions. This win is even more sweeter for Matt because it is his first Honours Board victory, his name will be up there in gold leaf with the rest of the club legends.

| The blood, sweat & tears finally paid off! |
