Welcome to another edition of our newsletter, this week we check in with the Vets section winter training, we report on some brave monthly medal winners, and we have a special delivery. Enjoy the read!

Eyeline Putting Clinic

This week the Vets section continued their winter training programme and they were the first to experience the Eyeline Putting Clinic. I had 10 keen golfers looking to improve their putting woes with all the gadgets at their disposal.

We took a look at the basic fundamentals such as distance control, general set up, tempo & stroke path. All of which are explained below...

Below we see John Martin expertly demonstrating the Stroke Meter, the idea of this training aid is to improve distance control. A very simple tool which can have fantastic effects to your putting; all you simple need to do is ensure your backswing is the same length as the follow through i.e. if you swing back to the green section the follow through should also be to the green section the other side.

Ray Gardner is using the Ball of Steel here to improve his tempo of his stroke which will ultimately improve his striking as well. As you can see, Ray is set up over a 3 foot putt and all he has to do is ensure the ball reaches the tee peg. The catch? These balls are 5 times heavier than a normal golf ball so you have to make sure you accelerate through the putt!

On station 3 we have Chris Horne utilising the Edge Putting Rail and this simple to use training aid makes sure your stroke doesn't have any funky re-routes going on. It trains you to swing the putter in a more straight back, straight through pendulum motion by ensuring the heel of your putter is in contact with the rail throughout the stroke.

Finally we have Bruce Davidson using the Pendulum Rod, another great tool to get your path far more consistent. As you can see the Pendulum Rod anchors into your sternum and onto the putter head and the idea of this is keep both ends of the rod in contact with yourself and the putter...is your stroke has any strange movements the rod will just fall out of place!

Monthly Stableford

Last Sunday we had the Monthly Stableford where we had 66 brave (or stupid depending on your opinion) take on Baltic conditions of low temperatures, rain & even snow! At the start of the week we had nearly 100 entries at one point but slowly some of them wimped out only leaving the die hard golfers!

The person who come out on top of the hard nuts was Stuart Thomsitt, who not only claimed victory but done it in fantastic style with a whopping 41 points! That's some going in those conditions. Stuart's handicap got a slashing but his ProShop funds took a boost. Well done Stuart!

Bonus Ball

There was no winner in the ProShop Bonus Ball last week meaning this week will be a rollover meaning if all of this week's numbers go then the prize will be worth £180! So make sure you've got your number, you got to be in it to win it!
