Srixon Fitting Day

As the season draws to a close we welcomed our expert fitter from Srixon, Martin Galway and his van full of the latest clubs for the R&CPGC faithful to test out. Along with his GC2 Launch Monitor, Martin endeavoured to find a head & shaft combination that will make our beloved game just that much easier.

Amber Naqvi was one of those R&CPGC faithful to put Martin to the test and see what he could come up with. Amber wanted to see if the Srixon clubs could salvage any distance he has lost as he has matured as a golfer, a challenge that Martin, I'm sure, regularly faces.

What Martin did also come across is that Amber's spin rates were low which was only causing him to lose distance, this is where Martin tried to focus his attention. However, it wasn't quite that simple because there was also just too much sidespin on the shots meaning if Martin gave Amber a shaft with too soft a tip or too light a shaft this would be exaggerated.

Perman Shield Final

After their heroic victory a couple of weeks ago, the Perman Shield team made their way to Dartford GC this weekend to battle it out with Mid Kent GC to be crowned Perman Shield Champions 2017.

The boys took a strong following of R&CPGC faithful to cheer them on to success.

Here's how they got on...

The team got to Dartford GC around 7:00am for breakfast and a warm up in time for the first tee which was at 8:00am for the 4 foursomes matches. Things didn't get off to the flyer as we hoped losing 3 of those matches and winning the other. Seasoned R&CPGC'ers Bob Florence & Rob Osmond securing the solitary morning point.

The team got back into the clubhouse for some lunch where the morale was a bit deflated, the boys needed to get off to a flyer in the afternoon if they were to lift the trophy.

Unfortunately this wasn't the case as R&CPGC surrendered the first 3 points leaving Mid Kent only needing half a point from the remaining 5 matches to secure victory. A R&CPGC mini fight back threatened to take place as Scott Mutter & Shaun Macklin nicked 2 points back. However the comeback was short lived as Mid Kent secured the vital half point in the next match.

Unfortunately R&CPGC fell at the final hurdle but nonetheless a runners up finish is a good achievement, hopefully the boys can go 1 step further in 2018! Please find the full match result here:
