Golf Foundation Par

Last Saturday we had 104 R&CPGC members taking part in the Golf Foundation Par which is a different format from the usual medal or stableford, this week was a bogey competitions which is matchplay against the course. The guys would take their shots where they would normally for a stableford in a matchplay scenario. A tough format, so any score around level would be good! Here's how they got on...

The best from Division 1 was Tommy Joyce who managed to finish 1UP on the course which playing off a 5 handicap was a very impressive achievement! Tommy's fine round was all the more impressive because he found himself 2DOWN after 9 holes which isn't a disaster in itself. Tommy, however, went through the gears on the back 9 to be 3UP. Great scoring Tommy!

The winner of The Golf Foundation Par came from Division 2 in the shape of seasoned past Captain Trevor Fish, who ripped the golf course to shreds finishing 5UP! A score that is normally few and far between due to the toughness of the format. What makes Trevor's score even more impressive is that he only surrendered 2 holes throughout the round. The course didn't stand a chance!

Due to their silky smooth skills, Tommy & Trevor have had their handicap cut and their ProShop accounts boosted. Well done guys!

Outplayed from start to finish

It was a convincing win for the United States over the weekend as they retained the Solheim Cup with a 16.5-11.5 victory in Iowa. The European team found themselves five points behind heading into Sunday’s singles, partly down to a whitewashing in Friday afternoon’s fourballs, but, in the end, they left themselves with too much to do, being outplayed from start to finish.

Watching golf being played in a team format certainly adds a bit of excitement to the game, and hopefully will have prompted a few of you to get back out on the course over the next week or two. With this in mind, we were wondering which time of the day is your favourite to take to the course. Maybe you prefer to tee off early morning and get round before lunch or you might be the opposite and prefer a quiet evening round when you have the course to yourself?
