Bonus ball results

Last weekend we started the BRAND NEW ProShop Bonus Ball and as usual the R&CPGC faithful weren't shy about getting involved and most of the numbers were snapped up before Saturday lunchtime.

All they had to do was pick a number between 1 & 59 and if that was the Bonus Ball on the Saturday night National Lottery they would walk away with the prize worth up to £120. This week the lucky number was 17 and the even luckier winner was the ever shy and retiring Club Captain, Terry Heaver.

Terry's prize was a PING Karsten putter which as we all know (only because Terry reminds us all) putting is a strong part of his game. Only God knows how he will fare with a straight one now!

If you would like to have another go or missed out last time, the numbers are up for grabs now so make sure you get in fast or if you would like to reserve your lucky number for a string of consecutive weeks then let us know.

You don't have to look far for a reason for Keith & Mandy's 0 point return

Golfer & Non Golfer

We had another one of the fun events at R&CPGC last Friday evening in the form of the Golfer & Non Golfer. The golfer would hit all the shots but when the ball was on the green the non-golfer would take over...was there a marriage counsellor on site?

There were 36 pairs spread across a front 9 shotgun start and some were taking it more seriously than others with the non-golfers getting some last minute tuition from their golfing partner.

The less serious contenders were mainly in my fourball with Keith Pearce and Mandy from the bar who even managed to grab themselves a prize but that's only because they returned with 0 points...the wooden spoon.

The winners also came from my fourball who were Jerry & ex kitchen staff Amelia who also didn't seem to take the competition too seriously with a thick coating of dust on Jerry's clubs from her last outing and not an awful lot of preparation from Amelia, Jerry did give her some advice on putting but it was less than helpful.

Everybody commented on how they had a good time on the golf course and in the clubhouse afterwards. It was great to see so many of the Non-Golfers having such a good time and maybe they may become the Golfer in next year's event!

Club Championship

Last month's Club Championship entry was increased on last year however the problem of people not showing up has reared its head again. On Sunday it meant there were 2 balls amongst 3 balls in our biggest competition of the year thereby ruining their day, this is becoming more and more of a problem and happens in nearly every competition. Last year, one player was left on his own after neither of his partners showed up.

We quite understand that people fall ill and suffer injuries, but what is not acceptable, is not letting the ProShop know that you will not be turning up on the day. So with immediate effect, any player who appears on the start sheet and fails to appear on the day without having previously notified the ProShop (an e mail is not sufficient, as there is no guarantee this is delivered or read) could be banned for the next three timed start competitions.

I am sorry it has come to this but having been in a 2 ball amongst 3 balls I know how it can ruin a game. Thank you all for your co-operation in this matter.
