Rochester and Cobham Park Pro-Am
The golfing flagship event of the R&CPGC calendar is fast approaching once again on Thursday 29th June, we will have the finest PGA Professionals all looking to secure victory in the annual R&CPGC Pro-Am.
Each of the PGA Professionals will not be able to do it alone, that's where they need your help! The team will consist of 3 amateurs and the PGA Professional where the best 2 of 4 scores will count on each hole.
Aside from the competition, the main aspect for the PGA Professional is to make the whole experience enjoyable for the amateurs from the moment they all sit down for breakfast. They will also be more than happy to give their team hints and tips on how they can improve their game and answer questions about how they approach each shot.
Please click here to download the entry form.
Once all the fun has been had on the golf course all the teams will head inside for a mouth watering carvery dinner expertly prepared by Jackie & Bernie, I'm getting hungry just thinking about it! Once the plates are empty the presentation will take place where there will once again be some fabulous prizes up for grabs as well as the customary auction for fourball vouchers presented by MC Robin Packer.
If you want to be apart of the fun this year, you can either enter a team of 3 or individually! If you want to be treated like a celebrity for the day then why not upgrade to the VIP package? For a slight increase you will get the best of the PGA Professionals, champagne breakfast in a VIP section of the clubhouse, a gift set of essentials for the day & preferential parking.
Royal Marines Challenge Shield
Last Saturday we had the Royal Marines Challenge Shield where we had a whopping 136 R&CPGC members all trying to get their hands on the coveted silverware, here's how they got on...
Starting in Division 2, sitting atop the tree was Steve Munns who came home with a stunning net 69. Steve's round consisted of a steady front nine 9 that saw him stand on the 10th tee 1 under his handicap which he then followed up with a 2 under handicap back 9 to give him his superb score.
Unfortunately for Steve he came up 1 shot short for the main prize as Jordan Peacock fired in a scintillating net 68! Jordan's round was slow to get started as he was 1 over his handicap at the turn but he went straight into fifth gear in the second half with a 4 under handicap back 9. Jordan's handicap also took a big cut of 2 shots which also included an exceptional scoring reduction making him a single figure handicap!
US Open Par 3 Championships
With just 3 weeks until the US Open, the second major of the year gets underway that can only mean one thing...the R&CPGC Par 3 Championships is back! All the fun is about to unfold on Friday 16th June with a 5:30pm shotgun, here's why you need to get involved...
This has proved to be a very popular event since it's introduction in 2015 with the R&CPGC faithful, so much so we are constantly being asked if and when we are running it again to which we reply, of course and always US Open weekend! The event never fails to bring less than 50 R&CPGC members out on a warm summer's evening on a very unique 9 holes.
In previous years we've had some real funky shots that require the upmost concentration, for example from next to the 4th green to the practice chipping green, next to the 5th tee to the 4th green (yes that does mean going over the trees next to the green) and many more weird and wonderful shots!
Once we have had all the fun on the course we head back to the clubhouse for some delicious dinner while settling down to watch the action at the US Open unfold on the big screen. There is also a small presentation with prizes for the bets team score and the best individual score.
Want to be a part of the action? You can either find your own team or enter by yourself and we can find you a team, sign up in the ProShop and entry will cost £12 which will include prizes and food.
Gray Cup
Earlier this week we also had 2 teams in action, one in the Gray Cup which is for handicap 18 and above and the other was in the Sundridge Trophy which is for 5 handicap and above...
First up was the Gray Cup team which consisted of 8 of R&CPGC's finest higher handicap golfers, they were at home to Sundridge Park GC. After losing the first match R&CPGC managed to take 3 1/2 points from a possible 4 meaning just half a point was needed to secure victory and advancement to the next round.
Things got pretty tight as it went down to the last match but luckily Ted Lines had nerves of steel to win his match 2&1 to give R&CPGC a 5-3 victory!
Sundridge Trophy
The following day we had the Sundridge Trophy team taking on Wildernesse GC with 8 of the best low handicaps R&CPGC has at it's disposal.
Once again R&CPGC lost the first match but quickly replied with wins in the next 2 matches before being pegged back in the fourth match.
However, 3 rapid fire wins in matches 5,6 & 7 meant that the victory was secured and progression to the next round was assured!
