Hello golfers,
Atkin Challenge Cup
Another weekend comes around and that means another Honours Board competition in the form of the Atkin Challenge Cup. This week we had 142 golfers all trying to follow last weekend's winner Terry Fogarty into the history books and book their place at the presentation dinner. Conditions started off tough with a bitter chill in the air and rain giving the morning guys a tougher task.
In Division 2 the best of the bunch was Barry McNally who knocked in a very steady nett 71 to beat John Martin and Steve Leng on countback. Barry didn't come out the traps flying, with a front 9 of 2 over his handicap but he seemed to find another gear on the back 9 coming home 2 under his handicap.
This week's winner once again came from Division 1 and this time it was Damon Robbins who claimed the main prize, Atkin Challenge Cup Champion 2017 with a marvelous nett 68. Damon didn't set the course alight for the first 13 holes but he must have had a stern word with himself on the 14th tee because he then returned home with 5 consecutive 3's. That's right, 4 birdies and a par!
That back 9 was enough to blow George Crow and Bob Tucker out of the water who both also shot nett 68! Damon's handicap took a cut of a whole shot, as a result but on the plus side his Pro Shop account has been boosted. Well done Damon!
Callaway Experience Day
It amazes me just how well-received Callaway has been by the R&CPGC members. Each time we organise a Callaway Experience Day they get filled up with no hesitation and our latest day is no exception.
In order to provide the best service to you, the R&CPGC members, we have organised another Callaway Experience Day at the National Fitting Centre in Chessington. If the old bats are in desperate need of an upgrade then this could be a God send.
Make sure your diary is clear on Thursday 29th June so that you can take advantage of the state of the art technology Callaway has to offer. Utilising Trackman data the expert fitters can pick out exactly what you need from the thousands of head and shaft combinations.
If you would like to take advantage of one of these 90 minute slots, please choose from the available times below and contact the ProShop to book in.

St. George's Dinner
All day Saturday the R&CPGC faithful were asking why we had sand bags piled up outside the clubhouse doors, were we expecting a flood was the common question? They were in actual fact there for the St. George's dinner that was taking place that evening.
Captain Terry gave the dinner a war time theme which explains the sand bags but we all know Terry wouldn't stop there, he also decked out the lounge in all things war time with a parachute as the centerpiece. Where Terry managed to acquire a parachute from is still an unanswered question!
You would think that would be it but Terry being Terry also made the night a fancy dress evening and needless to say the 56 attendees got right in the spirit! There were some fantastic efforts on the night and some lovely food dished up by Jackie & Bernie!
Captain Terry dived into his dressing up box once again. Everyone got into the spirit.
Callaway Experience Day
Once again the R&CPGC members didn't disappoint and have filled another Callaway Experience Day on Friday 19th May. You can find the keen members who are attending below. We will let you know how they get on.
8:00am Darren Yearley 9:30am Paul Gray 11:00am Ray Pooley 3:00pm Denis Lloyd
