TomTom Watches
After weeks of waiting we finally have the TomTom GPS watches in stock and they were certainly worth the wait. We had to take a look at what makes them so special....
The first thing we noticed about both the Golfer & Golfer 2 watches is their very slick and slim design and a very simple 1 button operational design, this reduces the weight in the watch so that it doesn't have an effect on your swing...you'll have to find something else to blame!
Once you step onto the 1st tee the watches will give you all the information you need to navigate your way to a very easy par or even a birdie, you can see what hazards await your tee shot or possibly your second shots. Once you're ready to attack the green the watches will give you yardages to the front, middle and back of the green PLUS there is an option for green view so you can see what dangers are lurking around the greens.
The Golfer 2 also comes with auto shot detection so it knows when you're ready to hit the next shot and it will also tell you how far you hit the previous shot. If you download the MySports App you sync your watch via Bluetooth to your smart phone so it can show you the stats from your round such as fairways hit, greens hit, how many putts and it will even tell what side you are missing the fairways and greens!
We even have 2 demo watches for you see how good they are for yourself, come into the ProShop to find out more!
125 Golf Day
In celebration of the 125th Anniversary we held the 125 Golf Day, an individual stableford with a twist...
The 83 members who took part had 3 quirky rules added to the already complex 34 rules of golf. The players had 1 mulligan, they could declare a 2 putt once during their round and they had to use a 5 iron all the way down the 18th until they hit the green, put those numbers together and you get 125...cleverly thought out by Captain Terry Heaver.
Claiming the men's prize was John Barron with an amazing 41 points playing off a 4 handicap, John was in fact 3 under par gross through 17 holes but it wasn't quite the fairy-tale finish as the 5 iron rule hampered John down the 18th, you can thank Terry for that one, John!
The winner of the ladies prize was Karen Sinden who romped home with a whopping 35 points with a fantastic 19 points on the front 9 followed a steadier 16 points on the back 9. Karen won the ladies prize by a whopping 6 points, blowing away the rest of the field.
Well done to John & Karen!
Brice Bowl
The best of the Kent amateurs came to R&CPGC last week to do battle for the infamous Brice Bowl and with a strong R&CPGC representation would any of the visitors have what it takes to snatch a victory from the locals?
The conditions were rather calm for the morning round and the best score was from former R&CPGC member Freddie Price who fired in a flawless bogey free round of 66, 5 under par and was taking a 2 shot lead into the final round. The best of the R&CPGC boys was Rob Osmond who had steady round of 71, as to be expected from the seasoned golfer but could he catch Freddie?
The birdies dried up for Freddie during the second round as he crossed the line with 1 over par 72, this allowed recently crown Kent Amateur Champion, Dan Brown to sneak in and follow up his morning round of 69 with an impressive 67 to finish on a total of 6 under par through 36 holes to be crowned Brice Bowl Champion 2016.
Rob Osmond was the best of the R&CPGC representatives after rounds of 71 & 70 was enough for him to take the net prize and a healthy voucher to spend in the ProShop.
Well done to Dan and Rob for their great rounds of golf!
