The PGA will soon be making their way to R&CPGC for our annual Pro-Am and if previous years are anything to go by, this year will be so much fun. Amateur golfers, both members and non-members of R&CPGC, get the chance to play golf with the best PGA Professionals the South Region has to offer.  You will be able to pick their brains on what their strategy is during their round, what they think you should do with your shot or even get some pointers on where your swing can improve!

There are fantastic prizes for the best 3 teams scores as well as nearest the pin prizes for the amateurs on ALL par 3's, last year's prizes included adidas golf shoes, PING golf bag and much more!

The scoring was fantastic last year, in fact the Professionals needed to shoot under par if they were to collect some winnings; last year's winner Zane Scotland will look to be retain his title and better his score of 7 under par which will hopefully result in a new course record and of course pick a up a healthy cheque.

We also have the VIP package for those teams who liked to be treated like royalty which includes VIP parking closer to the clubhouse, champagne breakfast complete with gifts in a specially roped off section of the clubhouse and then the same treatment when you've finished for the post round meal. This could be the perfect way to woo your clients?

Our Product Tester Took The Plunge

After a few days mulling the results of his product testing experience, John Gardner finally came to the correct decision that he needed to invest in the Callaway XR16 driver, which was giving him an extra 25 yards! He took it out for another test drive just to prove to himself that it wasn't a fluke that he was hitting it that much further... That was the final nail in the coffin and so he had to dip into his wallet.

Being the critical thinker that John is, he was also curious to see what a fairway wood could do for him and after taking it out on the range it wasn't long before he came back in to add it to his ever growing set... It wont be long before the matching irons will be in the bag!


 

Callaway Fitting Day

After the successful start to the season with Callaway we had to get James and his van full of goodies back for those members who have missed out to have a look at what Callaway can offer them...

First up was John Tutt who was looking to improve his options around the greens with the NEW MD3 wedges and after just a short time James managed to fit John for 2 wedges which he now has in the bag and is mulling over the idea of following our Product Tester's route and getting the XR16 driver too, come on John you know it makes senses!

Next was Sue Siddle who didn't have a specific idea of what she wanted but was just intrigued into what impact custom fitted clubs could have on her game. 

After just 30 minutes with James, Sue was completely blown away with the results and was then thinking about how she could go home and tell her husband that she wants new clubs.

Chris Hassell was next and was looking for new irons, that's right you've guessed it, James worked his magic again and managed to gain Chris 15 yards on his current irons and reduce the dispersion which means more greens in regulation. He did this simply by making a few tweaks with his interchangeable heads and shafts.

Finally, was Ernie Hemming who was looking at sorting out his options from the tee whether that be a driver or a 3+ wood. James found that Ernie would benefit more from a new driver which was the very popular XR16 as the 3+ wood would be surplus to requirements and not really fitting into his current set make up.

Monthly Medal & KCPFA Cup

Last Saturday we had the Monthly Medal & KCPFA Cup and after a very wet and wintery start to the week the conditions had improved, the course was very soft and there to be scored on.

Taking the crown was one of the first guys out, Andy Boorman who fired in a superb nett 67, gross 76. Andy's round got off to a slow start with a nett 37 (1 over his handicap) but then he kicked on with a birdie on the 10th hole which he followed up with 7 consecutive pars before signing off with a bogey 5 on the 18th...level par gross on the back 9!

Well done, Andy!

Par 3 Championship - With the US Open starting next week we have also got the return of the Par 3 Championship on Thursday 16th June, we've a specially designed course to test your short game skills; hitting shots from where you wouldn't have been before...well most of you anyway.

This fun packed event will kick off at 5pm with a shotgun start then once the golf has finished we will head back to the clubhouse for some delicious fish and chips supplied by Naz Gill whilst settling down to watch the US Open unfold.

There's still space for two more teams so if you're interested pop into the ProShop and get your name down, the entry will cost £12 which will cover food and prizes. If you cant make the golf your more than welcome to come along for the food, all we need you to do is place your order in time, this will cost £8.
