PING Crossover
PING have created a new category of golf club; the NEW Crossover with the idea of combining the precision and control of an iron with the speed and forgiveness of a hybrid. It's not to be confused with a driving iron; it's far more forgiving, high launching and versatile, let's take a look at why...
PING have distributed the stress evenly across the face, sole and top rail using the innovative Cascading Internal Sole technology allowing for ultimate flexibility at impact which will increase ball speeds meaning you will also get more distance!
The Centre of Gravity in the Crossover has been moved lower and further back in the head. This is so you can get hybrid like forgiveness for both distance and accuracy. The perimeter weighting has also been expanded to achieve a higher MOI (moment of inertia) which basically means the club will resist twisting open or closed at impact on those off centre strikes.
The clubface is made from revolutionary Carpenter 455 Steel which is precision machined thinner for more flexibility at impact, once again meaning faster ball speeds and longer results. The flat iron-like clubface deliver iron confidence for better accuracy, workability and distance control.
Oakleigh Cup
Last weekend was the first of the drawn competitions for 2016; The Oakleigh Cup and with over 100 people entered the competition would be fierce.
The conditions were rather tough with rain showers and high winds at times so scoring was exceptionally tough, however Captain Terry Heaver didn't seem to struggle as he fired in a respectable 37 points which was good enough to take the spoils in Division 2. All the golf Terry is playing in his Captain's Year seems to be paying off!
Terry's score wasn't enough to take the main prize though because Dean Lanning managed to put together a very good score of 39 points, a round which finished with a double bogey, 6! With 14 holes at par or better, Dean's round was still very impressive and worthy of becoming Oakleigh Cup Champion for 2016. Well Done Dean!
Captain Terry's Surprise
Captain Terry Heaver had a little surprise for me last week when I thought he wanted to have a chat about the upcoming 125 Golf Day, in actual fact he wanted to give me a birthday cake...very embarrassing! Luckily there was only 10 or so people in the spike bar but it was still enough for me to want to bury my head in the sand. Thank you though Terry for the cake and the embarrassing presentation!
125 Teddy Bear
The 125th Anniversary teddy bear went on its travels over the last couple of weeks to South Africa with Vice Captain Steve Thouless; he treated teddy to some wonderful sights including a trip to Royal Cape Golf Club where he got to witness Steve work his magic on the course.
Teddy wasn't quite ready for the cage dive with Great White Sharks but Steve was fearless and went down in the cage a couple of times, rumour has it the sharks were getting scared of Steve!
