Callaway Success
Last week we had James Hunt and his van packed with Callaway clubs for the members to try, James had a full list of appointments from 1:30pm right the way through to 5:00pm, but would he be successful in improving their game?
One of the best improvements was that of Kurt Dennison, who only came in for clubs that he felt confident were right for him. Little did he know that those clubs would also gain him 20 yards on his iron shots! There was only going to be one outcome at the end of the fitting...a whole new bag of clubs.
Another big improvement was from Kurt Ridgewell, who recently took the plunge and bought new Callaway irons and he loves them... so much so he wanted a driver to match! In a mere 30 minutes James found the perfect fit for him with the XR driver, which has not only reduced his dispersion, meaning more fairways, but it was also going further than his current driver a whole 24 yards in fact!
Since we have started stocking Callaway the members haven really taken to it, we have had 2 very successful experience days at the National Fitting Centre and now a Fitting Day here at R&CPGC; a total of 18 fittings, not including the ones I have performed myself! From that, we now have over 20 members putting Callaway in the bag and the feedback has been unbelievably good. To put into perspective how well Callaway is performing, 2 of those members are in the top 3 of last week's Mid Week Medal!
If you want to see what all the fuss is about we have another Fitting Day here at R&CPGC on Friday, 3rd June, between 1:00pm and 5:00pm; but make sure you get in fast because, from previous experience, the slots will get taken up in no time!
Monthly Medal & Frank Brooks Hill Trophy
Last Sunday was the Monthly Medal & Frank Brooks Hill Trophy, with 106 members taking part. Taking the top spot was Marcus Sewell who shot a great round of gross 67, making that a nett 68 with his +1 handicap! Marcus came out traps, absolutely flying, with a front 9 of 5 under par which included a run of eagle, birdie, birdie, birdie from the 3rd to the 6th, he slowed down through the back 9 with what was still a very solid 1 over par. Marcus' ProShop account took a healthy boost too so all in all not a bad day!
Par 3 Competition
The 2nd major of 2016 is coming up with the US Open taking place at Oakmont Country Club, but more importantly this sees the return of the R&CPGC Par 3 Championship. We ran this event for the first time last year to great success. The members seemed to really have a good time with what proved to be a tricky little lay out...well for some people it was anyway.
After play we all went back into the clubhouse for some dinner and some USA inspired fun, like a true American style frat party, whilst cheering on those all important sweepstake picks (don't worry I will get to that). The feedback was unbelievably positive so we would be crazy not to run it again this year and by special request of Captain Terry Heaver.
So if you want to get involved in the action it will take place on Thursday, 16th June, with a 5:00pm
shotgun start, sign up in the ProShop.
Sweepstake
With another major there comes another sweepstake! This time all you have to do is pick 1 player from the Top 25 in the World Rankings and another from the rest of the field, then we add their scores together at the end of each day; the person with the lowest score takes the cash. Forms will be released on Monday, 6 June!
US Open Discounts
For the duration of the US Open we will also be having a discount weekend from Thursday, 16th June, until Sunday, 19th June.
You can get 20% off ALL golf shoes, 40% off ALL Ashworth clothing, or you can get 50% off ANY other clothing when you buy 1 other piece at full price! Make sure you take full advantage of these fantastic offers because once Monday rolls around you would have missed your chance!
Callaway Chrome Soft Golf Ball
We have taken a look at the NEW Callaway Chrome Soft golf ball to help the members understand a little bit about finding the right golf ball for their game.
Callaway have utilised Duel SoftFast Core Technology, in fact there is no other ball manufacturer using such advanced technology. The idea is that the ball speeds are increased, but with less spin, meaning that this is perfect for golfers who need lower spin rates for optimal performance off the tee.
Even though the ball helps the long game it still feels fantastic from within 100 yards because it is a 4 piece ball with a Tour Urethane Cover giving more aggressive spin on the shorter shots, meaning ultimate control.
The Chrome Soft also has a low compression due to the SoftFast Core, meaning you can compress it easier for longer straighter shots with the long irons.
If you fancy changing ball you can buy 2 sleeves of Chrome Soft and receive an extra 2 balls absolutely FREE and if your totally convinced you can get your hands on a dozen for £29.95!

Don't forget the star studded event of everybody's year, the R&CPGC Pro-Am which will be on Thursday, 30th June. if you want to be apart of the action please find the entry form below.
