Atkin Challenge Cup

Now that Spring is upon us Saturday saw the return of the Atkin Challenge Cup but unfortunately the wintery weather was still here with bitter winds making scoring tough... but how did everybody get on?

The weather wasn't enough to put off the brave 144 members who took to the course vying to take the crown for 2016, however, a vast majority of them did have enough layers on to look like the Michelin man! Scoring well was proving to be very tough with the best score being a 71 for a majority of the day which would see the CSS reach as high as 76!

That was until Craig Rickard fired a very steady round of 72, nett 68 a card that consisted of 9 pars, 4 birdies and 5 bogeys surely there wouldn't be a better round in progress, would there? Unfortunately George Crow had other things in mind after he came home with a gross 68, nett 67 a round that consisted of 6 birdies which in very tough conditions was a fantastic score, well done George!

Product Testers Wanted

After a well-earned rest the GC2 Launch Monitor is back and raring to go and so to get it back in the swing of things we are looking for some members to be product testers.

On Thursday 19th May between 1:00pm & 3:00pm, Rob & I will be heading up to the driving range with a bag full of  Callaway, PING & Srixon clubs for members to test against their own and to get the members feedback on what they think of the clubs. We will have a variety of heads and shafts so we can get the right combination in order to get good results.

We are looking for 3 members to take part in this relaxed, fun event; 1 low handicap, 1 mid handicap & 1 high handicap so if you are interested please sign up in the ProShop.

Callaway Demo Day

Don't forget that on Friday 6th May we have our man from Callaway, James Hunt, coming down to R&CPGC with his van packed with goodies for you to try from Big Bertha & XR drivers through to Mack Daddy 3 wedges. 125th Anniversary Memorabilia

As I'm sure you are all aware by now, R&CPGC is celebrating its 125th Anniversary this year and I'm sure you also know that we have a logo purely for 2016 in celebration of this landmark.

So during 2016 the ProShop is stocking limited edition products with this new logo such as sweaters, caps & towels. The season is underway now and the South Region PGA Professionals are starting to ply their trade and so it will soon be our turn to host the cream of the crop for the annual R&CPGC Pro-Am which will be on Thursday 30th June. If you would like to enter a team please find the entry form here.
