Good day golfers,

Let's start this week with the Master's Sweepstake result. Once again the Augusta National showed it's class with excitement right to the very end. I hope you all managed to stay awake long enough to watch Bubba's emotional winning putt on the final green. What a player! Bubba just cruises around Augusta pumelling drive after drive over and beyond every fairway bunker, strategically placed to punish even the straightest of hitters. They just don't even come into play! For example on the 8th hole, a 570 yard par 5, there is a fairway bunker that's 315 yards to carry from the tee. Bubba flew it on Sunday by a good 10 yards. And don't forget that tee shot is uphill!! And then there is the famous 13th, another par 5. Bubba flew his drive over the trees and around the corner finishing 367 yards from the tee! This is simply raw talent like no other! If he is on form, he is almost impossible to beat with such power! Bubba averaged 305 yards off the tee for all 4 rounds, the longest in the field, and with driving accuracy of 71.43% for the week that's a phenominal combination!

So now it's over, the results are in… Due to the record amount of entries this year we decided to offer a prize for the best team after 36 holes. This was narrowly won by Brett Hackett!

You will see my name absent from the top 10, a poor showing on my part, especially as my assistants Mike and Jerry have managed to take 3 of the 10 prizes! Friday 18th April: (Good Friday): Drury Challenge Cup - We still have spaces available for tomorrow with tee times reserved until 2.44pm.

Saturday 19th April: Wood Cup - We still have spaces available for Saturday with tee times reserved until 1.40pm.

Monday 21st April: Bank Holiday Monday - Don't forget on Bank Holiday Monday's the tee's operate like a non competition weekend, with the 1st tee closed from 9.30-11.30am and the 10th tee closed from 9.15-11.30am. The pro shop will be open between 7.30 & 5.00pm. We also have the Bank Holiday Mixed Competition starting at 1.30pm from the 1st tee and from 2.00pm on the 10th tee.

TaylorMade fitting day!

On Saturday 10th May, TaylorMade are coming to Rochester & Cobham for a fitting day. We now have our booking sheet for the day with 30 minute slots available from 10am until 3pm. Slots are already starting to fill up, so don't hesitate in booking your appointment. If you are looking for a driver, fairway wood, hybrid, or maybe just an iron fitting, we recommend a 30 minute appointment, however for a combination of 1 or more of these, we recommend you have a 1 hour fitting. Flightscope - LIMITED SPACE AVAILABLE!

Due to popular demand Warren now has only 4 spaces appointments left! They are as follows:

As mentioned above all lessons with Flightscope are at no extra charge, however a custom fit with Flightscope will cost: £50 for a full fitting, or £25 for a driver, fairway wood or iron fitting. This cost will be discounted off any purchases following your fitting.

Do you dare to challenge Steve Howard and I in a Captain Pro match? If you think you have what it takes then please take the challenge! We have various dates available, which are listed on the Pro's noticeboard outside the men's changing room, for you to put your names down. We now have our first challengers, John Grace and Bob Davidson, for Wednesday 16th April. Our second challenge, which is yet to be filled, is on Sunday 18th May at 8am.

COURSE UPDATE - G.U.R.

Until further notice, all new turfing around the renovated bunkers on holes 5 through to 11, have been designated GUR, and are marked accordingly. Relief MAY be taken under Rule 25-1. Local Rule 2 (that says relief must be taken in GUR) is temporarily suspended until further notice. ALL BUNKERS ARE NOW IN PLAY with the exception of the new fairway bunkers on the 1st hole.

Great turn out for last weekend's EGU Medal - We had a huge 147 participants last weekend for the EGU Gold Medal! Matthew Palmer won Division 1 with a nett 68 and Brian Cruttenden won Division 2 with a very impressive nett 65! Make sure, if you haven't already, you get your names down for this weekend's big competitions, the DRURY CHALLENGE CUP on Friday, and the WOOD CUP on Saturday.

Bank Holiday Mixed Competition - On Monday 21st April we have the Bank Holiday Mixed competition, starting from 1.30pm. Please put your names down on the entry list, located on the "Mixed News" noticeboard between the men's and visitors changing rooms.

Mollie 7th in Scotland!

Mollie Lawrence was away last week playing in the Scottish Ladies Golf Association Under 16's Open Stroke Play Championship at Stathmore Golf Centre. An impressive 1st round score of 72 (even par) put Mollie in a tie for 3rd place at the end of day one, however in tough conditions on day 2, Mollie could only manage a 76 (+4) to finish in a tie for 7th. Congratulations and keep up all the hard work Mols!

All sessions will cost £10 per person. For safety reasons I can only coach a maximum of 8 juniors per session, so spaces will be allocated on a first come first serve basis. Please contact the pro shop on 01474823658 to book each individual session. Golf clubs can be provided, but please contact us in advance so we can make sure all equipment is available for the day.
